NBA trade rumors are hovering above the Indiana Pacers and Orlando Magic. These two teams are respectively at the 9th and 11th spot in the Eastern conference and both might pull off some moves before the trade deadline to secure a playoff spot. Rumor has it that the Magic plans to trade Elfrid Payton to get a scorer and Monta Ellis could be the answer.
ESPN reported that the Magic has plans of trading for a scorer since the team is currently in the 29th spot in points per possession. There have been NBA trade rumors that franchise might trade some of its key players like Jeff Green, Serge Ibaka and Elfrid Payton to solve its scoring problems.
Dec. 15 is nearing and a lot of teams will definitely shop their players anytime soon. The Magic will have a lot of options to choose from but one notable name that the team is currently eyeing is Pacers guard Monta Ellis.
According to Bleacher Report, the Pacers are also looking to move the 31-year-old Ellis to shake things up in its current roster. The Pacers are still struggling to become one of the top contending teams in the Eastern conference again and the franchise hopes that trading Ellis might bring in some fresh talent.
Ellis would be a perfect fit for the Magic and he could bring instant offense to the team. Ellis' contract will expire in 2019 so the Magic need to make a really good offer and it could send Payton along with other players to the Pacers to sweeten the deal.
Payton is doing well as a point guard/shooter but the lack of experience and ability to penetrate the paint poses problems for the Magic. But he might be a good fit for the Pacers where more aggressive guards like Jeff Teague and Rodney Stuckey can balance his incapability to drive to the basket.
The trade deadline is nearing and there will still be a lot of NBA trade rumors surfacing the league everyday. The Magic will have to decide now since there are also other teams looking to get Ellis.
