Singer Marc Anthony and Shannon de Lima are officially putting an end to their two-year marriage. Anthony and his wife have reportedly confirmed in a statement on Sunday that they will go for divorce.
According to a statement by ET, ending their marriage was a mutual and amicable decision that was decided upon after much consideration. The statement, disseminated in English as well as in Spanish, further read, "We ask for privacy during this difficult process and no further comments is going to be made from either one of us about this personal matter."
News about the break-up started a day after that the Latin singer was seen without his wedding ring during the Latin GRAMMYs. Anthony and ex-wife Jennifer Lopez made headlines as well for sharing a friendly kiss onstage following their performance together. The scene created quite a stir among their many fans, who by now are hoping to see the ex-couple back in each other's arms. A source told ET, however, that Lopez and Anthony have not reunited. It seemed though that the ex-couple have remained as friends following their break-up in 2011.
While rumors about their separation initially broke out in November, the couple has decided to stay silent about the alleged split-up until now. His father, Felipe Muñiz, somehow revealed the information earlier this month during an interview with Dando Candela of Telemundo Puerto Rico at the concert of his son.
"He is going through difficult times at the moment, but he knows how to accept what comes out of this," said Anthony's father and as posted by E! News.
The couple dated for two years before getting married in November 2014 at the Dominican Republic. De Lima was Anthony's third wife after Miss Universe Dayanara Torres and Lopez. He shares twins Emme and Max with Lopez, while he and Torres are parents to sons Cristian and Ryan. She, on the other hand, has a 9-year-old son from a past relationship. They have no children together.
Anthony and De Lima joins the list of celebrity divorces this 2016. A couple of months ago, Jobs & Hire reported that actress Kate Beckinsale and her husband, Len Wiseman, director of 'Total Recall,' had filed for divorce after months of estrangement.
Now that the Latin singer and his current wife have officially ended their relationship together, will Anthony be seeking comfort in the arms of his old flames?
