Two years after the events of the "Dawn of the Planet of the Apes" in 2014, the troop led by the sapient chimpanzee Caesar is thrust into another all-out war with humanity. With the death of his top lieutenant Kobe, another ape will be joining their war party.
Enter: the smart (if not eccentric) Bad Ape. Unlike the scar-faced Kobe, Bad Ape portrays the role of a comical sidekick to balance the vibes with the grim and woeful Caesar. But if there is one prevalent similarity between Bad Ape and the deceased treacherous challenger to Caesar's leadership, it is the fact that he and Kobe are both 'fluent in English.'
Who is Bad Ape?
Recent reports reveal that Bad Ape originated in a ruined Portland Zoo as a solitary creature eking out his own survival. Bad Ape is the third talking chimpanzee in the entire reboot franchise, but the last to fill a leadership role alongside the mute brutish Rocket and the orangutan Luca who is proficient in human sign language. According to Coming Soon, Bad Ape will be played by a veteran comedian Steve Zahn.
Caesar's Last War
As revealed by Screen Crush, "War for the Planet of the Apes" will probably close the circle to Caesar's saga. There is a strong possibility that in this war against humanity, Caesar will die of an honorable warrior's death. By then, it will cement his status as a religious figure in simian history.
Earth, the Planet of the Apes
The trailer features a short (albeit ominous) narrative voiced by the actor and lead antagonist, Woody Harrelson, pertaining to mankind's fate. It is then revealed how humanity is teetering towards complete extinction following several waves of Simian Flu (ALZ-113).
In an article featured by Jobs & Hire, "War for the Planet of the Apes" is already lauded by critics for the impressive progression of the trilogy's overall arc. This franchise seems to even surpass "Avengers" and "Star Wars" in terms of content 'substance and depth.'
